Meet the Owner Bill Kilpatrick

Now in its eleventh year, Earth Elements has evolved from a turf management company to providing full scale irrigation and outdoor lighting solutions to create beautiful (and healthy) outdoor spaces.  Founder, Bill Kilpatrick, launched Earth Elements as a turf and irrigation company that was focused on quality and impeccable workmanship.  His goal was to offer property owners an alternative to the traditional irrigation and lawn care companies that existed in the market. 

He quickly identified that one of the core challenges that Muskoka property owners were facing was ensuring that their properties were well watered.  This challenge was a result of several problems:

• Poor soils in the region making it challenging for the roots to remain hydrated

• Hot and dry summer months

• Improperly installed irrigation systems

This is why irrigation systems became an integral part of Earth Elements offerings, saving the property owner both time and money.  He also made the decision to provide each of Earth Elements installations with a 5-year workmanship warranty providing his customers with peace of mind.

Bill continually sought out ways on how to help his customers’ property dreams come true. To help them get there, he added aquascape services, including pumps, pond supplies, and pondless water features, inviting his customers to add incredible water features to their properties.   But he wanted to do more, so he sought out training in landscape lighting so that he could offer his customers the highest quality lighting products that would both transform and extend the use of their properties.

With a focus on education, he invests the time to understand each customer’s unique challenges and provides them with the tools and information that responds to their specific needs. Each of the landscape and lighting designs are carefully thought through beautifully merging the customer’s vision into the design.      

His tailored offerings invite property owners to fall in love with their landscape again-creating spaces that are easy to take care of and beautiful to look at. Today, Earth Elements offers solutions for the niche aspects of outdoor spaces including irrigation, turf management, landscape lighting, and aquascape solutions.

His goal is to provide Muskoka home, business, and cottage owners with sustainable high-quality landscape solutions.

Getting to the Roots of Bill’s Journey 

His journey in turf began near Invermere, at Greywolf Golf Course, Panorama, BC where he experienced the challenges in maintaining exceptional turf for the golf industry.  The golf course was located in the Percell Mountain Range, which had a very short growing season, and so Bill quickly learned techniques on how to establish healthy turf in the most challenging of conditions.  Bill’s curiosity was peaked and so he applied and completed a diploma in Turf Grass Management at Olds College, Alberta.

Now officially a certified “Turfie”, Bill decided to put this newfound knowledge to the test in the golf course industry.  He invested just over 8 years in Turf Grass Management and Irrigation, including becoming a certified golf course superintendent.  But he wanted to do more and so, Bill made the decision to return back to Ontario and apply his love for the landscape industry into a thriving Muskoka business:  Earth Elements.  

Today he has proudly made Lake of Bays, Ontario his home with his wife Melissa and children Abby and Charlie.

His dream is to have a sustainable and equitable business, that offers both superior products and services while fulfilling his passion for irrigation, outdoor lighting and the environment.
